Default help gums heal after dental work

DD had 2 crowns (or caps) NuSmile on wednesday. They are stainless steal and then white fronts. The dentist said just brush them and keep them clean. I was worried about her gums being sore because he said they might be for a few days. Today I just used a wet cloth to wipe them and some yellowish stuff came off and a little bit of red. The edges of her gums looked whitish, I wondered if it was puss or something. Then her gum started bleeding, alot. I called the dentist office and they said it was normal for them to be sore and maybe bleed some for a few days but to keep brushing them and keeping them clean because we dont' want any plaque or bacteria to cause infection...
I am slightly worried. It's hard to brush the front ones, she fights, me and I am worried I am going to make them bleed. I have just been trying to wipe them and be gentle. I decided to used a little salt water on a cloth instead and see if that helps it heal, since she can swish with salt water, like I would, if it were me. I also give her colloidal silver orally and tried to put some one her gums, because that kills bacteria.
We use bentonite clay to brush but I think she swallows most of it before we get to her front teeth.
Any other suggestions? Or am I doing the right thing so far? I am just kinda worried because I don't want her to get any infection and have to go back to the dentist. The treatments were NOT fun and I don't want to have to take her for any more "work" for a long time.

I would want the dentist to actually look at her mouth, given what you've said. Is she capable of a swish and spit mouthwash?

No she won't swish and spit. After I used a little salt water they look better, no longer whitish. I think they are sore because he kinda pushed the crowns in there deep and also had to drill a bit and it was up under her gum.

For mouth healing, we love Quantum's canker care gel. It can be brushed on any kind of a mouth wound. And Weleda's mouthwash. Both are antiseptic and healing.

And I think you can get the canker care gel at Walgreens. (And it's not really gel at all. It's a thickish liquid, that doesn't stick or form a film.)
