My incredibly huge cleaning list
DH is away for 3 days, so I'm determined to do a major house cleaning to surprise him when he gets home. I am not the best housekeeper in the world, and I know he would be so pleased to come home to a sparkly clean house. I have a massive list of jobs to do in 3 days, and with two kids underfoot, I'm not feeling optimistic. I'll be happy to get just a fraction of this done. But I thought I'd keep the list here and check it off as I go. I'd love it if anyone wants to cheer me on
Living Room - dust - vacuum floor & lounges - clear junk off lamp table - clear junk off entertainment unit - polish coffee table, lamp table, entertainment unit - add decorations to entertainment unit, and maybe lamp table (packed away to decorate for Christmas - somewhere so safe I can't find them) - tidy up toy corner - re-tidy shelves - clean windows - sweep down cobwebs Dining Room - dust - vacuum floor & dining chairs - polish dining table - tidy junk off top of piano - polish piano - rearrange kids art work (maybe put up hooks and string) - get flowers for the table - decorate top of piano - sweep down cobwebs Kitchen - clean stove top & oven - sweep & mop floor - scrub floor between oven & cupboards - clean off benches - clean off buffet - clean off desk - clean floor around desk - clean out the fridge - clean out the freezer - clean out the pantry - clean windows - organise drawers - organise cupboards - clean off top of fridge - clean off top of cupboards - polish buffet - clean glass buffet doors - decorate windowsill - wipe out sink - sweep down cobwebs - clean windows Toilet - sweep & mop floor - clean toilet - clean window - restock toilet paper - sweep down cobwebs Bathroom - clean bath & shower - sweep & mop floor - tidy countertop - scrub/wash countertop - scrub sink - rearrange items on countertop - decorate windowsill - put new hooks on walls for towels - clean windows - fresh towels - clean mirror - sweep down cobwebs Our Bedroom - vacuum - dust - clear off bedside tables & tallboy - polish bedside tables & tallboy - clean out stuff under the bed - put fresh sheets on the bed (Saturday) - decorate tallboy & bedside tables (nice framed photos?) - clean out wardrobe - clean out tallboy drawers - clean out bedside table drawers - clean windows - sweep down cobwebs Kids Bedroom - put fresh sheets on (Saturday) - clean off top bunk - put mattress on top bunk & make bed - tidy/organise nappy baskets - tidy up dolls house - tidy up extraneous toys/under the bed - sort clothes in wardrobe & drawers - sweep down cobwebs Laundry - put all clean washing away - finish all loads of washing - clean washing machine - clean dryer - organise cleaning supplies - clean out laundry cupboard - wipe out sink - sweep & mop floor - hang postcards on the wall - sweep down cobwebs Hallway - vacuum - sweep down cobwebs Saturday - The Big Homecoming - bake bread with Peachfuzz - bake lamington cupcakes - cook delicious dinner (Ginger-Lime Noodle Stirfry with Roasted Chickpeas) - run Epsom Salt bath (he's away on a trip, climbing the highest mountain here in Australia) - light candles - light oil burner Now, I need to get myself off GCM and into cleaning mode. Wish me luck! |

Re: My incredibly huge cleaning list
I hope it went/is going well! I know that when DH is gone I am so much more motivated to clean! Maybe I should send him away for a few days

Re: My incredibly huge cleaning list
I want to delete that list. I hardly got anything done
I finished the living room, dining room and our bedroom. That's it! But, DH was very appreciative when he arrived home, and said he felt very loved when he walked in the door and saw the main areas looking so nice. I guess I'll just chip away at the rest of it over the next couple of weeks. |

Re: My incredibly huge cleaning list
Good job on getting the living room, dining room and bedroom done. That's quite an accomplishment and I'm glad your DH was appreciative. Don't feel badly about not completing your list. It was pretty ambitious for the few days you had. Now you can plug away at your list a little at a time and pretty soon your house will be exactly like you want it.

Re: My incredibly huge cleaning list
Seriously, you did a huge job and a huge chunk of your list. Those are not easy tasks and I think your DH saw that.
