Spinoff on Popcorn
Ok gals, how do I make the popcorn on the stove? I've done it a few times before but I always seem to scorch it!
Give me directions, please!

Re: Spinoff on Popcorn
this is how i do it....
put oil in a big pot and turn the stove on medium or just a tad higher... when the oil is hot i cover the pan with popcorn...just cover it! i then put the lid on and shake the pot over the heat....shake and shake... it seems to take forever but then you'll hear the little pop and it shouldn't take more than a few more seconds and it will start popping all over! i hope that makes sense? |

Re: Spinoff on Popcorn
And as soon as it's done take it immediately off the burner and dump it into a bowl. For me, that's where the scorching happens - not pouring it into the bowl soon enough. I usually err on the side of safety and dump when the popping slows down but before it's actually done.

Re: Spinoff on Popcorn
I think you have to use a heavy pot, like cast iron or enamel to make it real good.

Re: Spinoff on Popcorn
I cover the bottom of the pot with oil and then cover the bottom with popcorn. I turn it to medium high and wait for it to pop. When the pot fills up I take it off of the eye and dump it into a bowl. My pot is just a regular silver one. NOthing to it!
But, I prefer microwave popcorn! LOL
