I started taking my kids to AWANA at a local church recently, and when I was in the lobby I found the Pearls' book prominently displayed for sale in front of a tiny bookstore there. I feel compelled to talk to someone about it. Can you help me compile some salient points please? Maybe some quotes?

Perhaps a first round would be to inquire as to how invested they are in Pearls' ways. It might give them a bit of face-saving if they look into it more and realize the controversy on their own. If they close ranks around it, you'll know to run. A response somewhere in the middle would be the one to send your list of bullet points in reply to.

I agree. Perhaps you could stop in at the bookstore and ask about the book, mentioning that you've heard there's controversy about it. You could also ask who at the church would be best to talk with about your concerns.

Here is the link to the GCM statement on the Pearls http://www.gentlechristianmothers.com/community/showthread.php?t=347847

and 'stickied' at the top of this forum is a resource list you can check out.

Here is a sample letter to a library (http://whynottrainachild.com/2010/04/27/letter-to-a-library/) about that book.

If the church is really into the Pearls, this letter (http://whynottrainachild.com/2010/03/12/concerns/) might be worth looking at for ideas.
