... to take to school, what do you put their drink in? A thermos? A straw-sipper? A bottled water?

I'm checking out what's "cool" for second graders. :shifty

I got a batman water bottle from Old Navy for $7, and that's Canadian so you could probably get it cheaper in the US. Its just the bat symbol all over it.

They're only really allowed water at school too.

They each have a water bottle to take to school. They can drink out of it whenever and I have no idea if they still take it to the lunch room or not.

Lina has something really similar, its just aluminum, and has a "sucking" top. She gets organic milk in it.

I bought my son a staniless steel water bottle from Target, but it ended up being bigger than he needed. So I got a reusable water bottle that is smaller.

Mine use Kleen Kanteens for water and these (http://www.amazon.com/Contigo-Autoseal-14-Ounce-Trekker-Green/dp/B0044WCLJS/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1318557686&sr=8-3) for juice. All three kids love them :tu

Oh, and as a tip. Those straw juice box type containers? Mine went moldy super fast last year. Ew.

I have a kindergartener.

He has a Klean Kanteen stainless water bottle for snack time and after recess. We got the cute ones from Pottery Barn Kids (pirate, lizards, shark)

For lunch he get s box of organic milk (Horizon).

We do have the Camelback water bottles as well (for home use). Sometimes, they have trouble getting the straw flip top to get all the way closed. I personally think they are cool and not baby-ish at all.

My son has one like that, only in blue and a more "boy" theme. We :heart our camelbak bottles --I have a bigger one, and both dd's have one. They are awesome! If you have a chewer, though, make sure you get a spare spout --they're pretty durable, but my orally fixated middle dd already needs a new spout on hers due to chewing a hole through it :doh. The only thing about that size is that if she's using it for all day, it might be a little small. And I'd only use it for water. Getting the straw clean if it's had milk in it might be a little tough.

They buy a milk at school cheaper than I can provide it, so they usually get that unless they specifically ask me for water. Then that goes in a stainless water bottle.

Joey said all the girls would like it and we added all the boy ones to our wishlist.

Funtainer by Thermos. Keeps everything nice and cold. Even in 100 degree heat, there will still be ice at the end of the day. :)

I have seen such a range of water bottles in K's 1st grade classroom that I think you'd be pretty much ok with about anything. We use Kleen Kanteens for water each day and they both have a Thermos for lunch. K's is one of the straw ones (I think it is a Funtainer) and J has one that has a spout. I like his because it clips shut with a metal fastener that I know won't pop open if it gets knocked around in the backpack, which has happened a few times with the Funtainers. (Ruined a backpack that way because it leaked milk inside and it was a rolling backpack so I couldn't wash it.)

Ours just have water in coloured pop top bottles. They aren't allowed juice boxes. HTH.

My 2nd grader wants one of those Camelbak ones. If you buy it at REI you can take it back anytime you want if it breaks (even after using it for a month or however long- if you're not satisfied, they take it back).
