Why can't you use diaper cream while using cloth diapers?

IIRC, it causes build up that over time will cause your diapers to be non-absorbent.

:think hmm, can't it be stripped?

Yeah, but I hate stripping diapers. If I ever need to use cream, I just put a cloth wipe b/t the cream and the diaper. Then it doesn't mess with my diapers. :)

The only one that I have specifically seen mentioned absolutely NOT to use is Desitin b/c it has cod liver oil in it and it can make your dipes smell "fishy" :yuck

I bought a couple of really good creams when DS was still in diapers. One was even zinc based. If I can find it, I can come back and post the name for you. The other I used mostly was Earth Mama Angel Baby baby bottom balm. Plus, that one you can use on sore noses and chapped cheeks too.

I used mostly an organic one (Mama Rose's) that was okay to use with CD's, but sometimes I needed to use a heavier-duty cream. I'd just super-clean the diapers every couple months, and it was fine.

I have some cheapie PFs that I use for Desitin and I wash them with our regular clothes. They are printed with designs, so that helps me recognize them. If I run out of those and still want to use Desitin then I put him in a 'sposie.
