How old was your lo when you started using these? How many lbs? I feel like we're getting close to outgrowing the yellow edge in the rise and she's only 3 months... Thanks!

The infant diapers were getting snug around 3 months and I manged to squeeze them on her until about 4 months. Then we switched to the red edge size.

I was amazed at how fast she outgrew the infant size, but she's 21 mo and still has plenty of growing room in the mediums. My older dd fit in them when she was 3, so they will last a long time.

Well then I guess I better get on the ball and order some. :giggle

Yea, it was probably about that age. We never used the yellow edged but started with the standard infant (green edged) and moved to the red edged from there.

I still trifold the yellows at 12 months! But I'm lazy and don't snappi. We have a dozen red edge organics that I barely use :shrug3

Really? She's got a really long rise so I wonder if jumping to brown would be a good idea. :think How much did your "chunk-o-lovin" :giggle weigh when you switched straight to brown?

Oh golly... I swear the kid was born 3 months old... :giggle:giggle:giggle

I think we were right at 4 months I think and probably 19-21 lbs? The rise was tall, so I folded the front down when I put them on him with a snappi. I like to do the bikini twist fold with him too, so that shortened the rise as well. I was snappi-ing the yellows right on the corners when I finally got my browns.

Hmmm, see she's only 13 lbs. but I'm having to fan out the front in order to snappi. And they look like low-rise dipes. :giggle But I'm not a fan of folding down, so maybe red edge might be the way to go... :think

I'm actually totally guessing on the weight. :giggle

That's exactly where we were, fanning out the front, and juuuuust getting the corners with the snappi. I'd get the red if you don't like to fold down, because the brown are quite a bit bigger. :yes

If she's 13 lbs I would definitely go red. They will probably last you a long time.

I should try to snappi one on my kid and see how it goes... :shrug3

We started out with the red. :shifty But, he was 12lbs when her was born. :shrug3

I got the brown edge for Punkin, but still had to fold them down quite a bit, even when he was 2.5 or so. He still wears reds at nearly 4, but he's on the smaller side for his age.

We went to the reds early too...3 months? She's almost 9 months now, and we definitely need the browns. She's almost 25 lbs.

Gabby needed the red edge by 3 weeks, of course she was over 10 pounds at birth and never dropped any weight. She is 2 now and I mostly use them for doublers but I can still squeeze her into them. I'd say I got my money's worth :giggle

I'm about to order some... My 18mo DD is 20lbs so according to the chart she's smack dab in the middle of the red edged prefolds. Or do they run small?

I think some kids end up potty learning before they get out of reds, so I don't think they run small...

At that size/age I would get the brown edge or the toddler size, the red will fit but they will fit tighter and you will not have as much extra fabric to absorb the pee from the larger toddler bladder.

Will the brown fit in med covers?

I'm not sure... Hopefully someone will answer who knows! I don't have any browns yet. And also no med covers yet...

Mine is just a bit bigger than yours and I was going to get the reds. But, she just moved to med covers with MEOS that I double with infant prefolds. I just thought your thread would help me, too:giggle

what covers do you put over the red edge?

This thread is making me :giggle I actually don't have mine yet. :giggle They are in route. But this came from green mountain diaper's website:
"Red edge fits nicely in medium Bummi Super Brite or Bummis Super Whisper Wrap covers. For a heavy wetter or for a baby on the upper end of the size range of a medium Bummis, or if baby is very wide, you can put a large dark brown edge prefold in a medium Bummis cover. Most will prefer the red edge in mediums, though, especially if baby is just moving up from smalls to mediums."

HTH! I may get Bummis medium covers or I may try the Thirsties duo size 2... I really want to get a little beetles little to big one size wool cover once my franklin goose store credits are unfrozen...

I just jump straight into premium. They're big, but the baby isn't crawling or walking.

I just snappi'd one on my 12 month old (22 pounds maybe?). It fit perfect! There is room to grow width wise.. and a little room to grow in the rise, too.

I had her in a Flip cover on the largest setting.

I had to go look at the measurements they give on their site. Maybe I need to get my reds and browns out to see if they are true to size.

The baby is 27lbs. Their site says the reds go to ~29lbs. He is not going to outgrow them any time soon. And my nearly 4 year old is about 35lbs, the high end weight for browns and he still fits a red just fine. It might just be their shapes, though. :shrug3

My 21 mo is 22ish lbs and fits the red edge nicely with plenty of room to grow. The red edge still fit my dd2 until she potty learned at 3 1/2 and 30 lbs. The dark brown edge fits well in large covers and would have to be folded down to fit into medium.

I've been using Thirsties Duo (size 2) covers. They work pretty well - I have no complaints. :-)
