one of my fb friends posted something about putting her almost 2 yr old's dipes on her 5 month old (sposies) and someone commented about how one time they had to put a blanket on their dd as a diaper and how bad it was. i had to :giggle cause i'm willing to bet if her dd could talk, she'd have said "thanks!"

kind of random but had to share it with yall cause only people who are into cd would get it!

why what?

why would she have said thanks?

cause paper diapers are scratchy. hollis always seemed much comfier and happier in a cloth dipe after he had been in sposies for a while. i know other people that have made this comment about their little ones too....

The blanket might have been a bit bulky...especially if applied by an amature. :shifty

I started CDing with a recieving blanket and gerber plastic pants. That was quite a comic adventure to be sure.

That is one of my favorite things about cloth diapering - I feel so much more resourceful! I was out and about with my daughter once and needed a diaper but didn't have one with me. But, I did have a receiving blanket and a couple diaper pins. :yes

I've used a blanket on more than one occasion when I only had a few cloth dipes :shifty

i don't think i could bring myself to use a blanket. and really, most of DD's blankets are polar fleece...not so absorbent...

If you had NOTHING else you wouldn't really have much choice. :shrug3 Polar fleece would help until you made it to a store/home. :giggle

I've heard a great newborn diapering solution (since even one-sized dipes don't fit teeny newborns sometimes) is to buy 2-3 newborn covers and fold receiving blankets in there (with a snappi/pins or not). You could save a lot of money on newborn prefolds that way if you're like me and you got a bazillion blankets :giggle I was smacking myself after I read that idea!! :doh

DS prefers a "night-time" diaper (we use 'sposies for overnight because it helps him sleep better). :shrug I would prefer to wear cloth if it were my bottom, but he's not such a fan. And he's been CD'd pretty much since birth.

you have no recieving blankets (usually 100% cotton)? I have used them in a pinch and it was kind of cute :giggle Granted I had snappis and wraps though:giggle

i imagine ds prefers sposies at night considering the bulk of what he would need afa cloth goes. but generally he prefers real diapers and not paper. he is really getting into loving pull ups too (cloth ones!)

Oh yeah, we do have some of those someplace....:scratch And we definitely have snappis and wraps.

But now when I think "blanket" I think of these fuzzy polyester things with fake satin trim....b/c Katherine is constantly dragging them around with her....like Linus from Peanuts....

i wish H had a security object.

even my therapist suggested trying to get him attached to one so that he's not using me for 100% of his comforting...bah
