during Bible study tonight we were talking about the early church, how early Christians were called aetheists and didn't go to a temple or synagogue but rather just met together, ate, and shared what they knew about Jesus
this led to a brief mention of unchurch and then a nice discussion of unschool

i had the fabulous opportunity to introduce 2 people to the concept - one was our associate pastor, former speech/drama teacher for high school, not married, no children, tons of experience with public school and education - and one was a working single mom to a kindergartener. they both seemed enlightened and open to the idea, our associate pastor even commended it and said she used a similar approach when she was teaching in that she tried to let the kids lead as much as she could get away with, mentioning how she really disliked the way structure is pushed in formal/public education! rock on!!
