So now that dd is eating much more solids, her poop is not just EBF any more and is more thick. Do I need to be rinse it now? What is the best way to rinse it?

I haven't been, unless there is enough to scrape off into the toilet.

What do you use to scrape it? Wipe?

My diaper service says, "no."

We are just required to dump the solid-ish parts into the toilet, and then toss the dipes into the pail liner they give us.

I use flushable liners when their poo stops being liquid - it makes it a lot easier to plop in the toilet instead of trying to scrape with toilet paper.

OH yes...I forgot about those....maybe I will order some of those. Thanks for that reminder!

Please...save your sanity. Buy disposable liners...Tiny Tush makes great ones. Bummi's fall apart and get fuzz on everything if one ends up in the washer. IME. :)

I have a spatula designated for the bathroom only, and I use that to scrape off as much as I can into the toilet. I don't rinse after that.

I just shake what shakes off into the toilet and throw the rest in the diaper pail. I do 2 washings and everything comes out clean with no smells.

I use my diaper sprayer to get off as much as possible. I love that thing.

I don't understand how people don't have to dunk or spray the poo off before pailing them. I tried that one time and had undigested corn, beans and chia seeds all in my washer! :jawdrop

Ds still nurses A LOT so his poo isn't as solid as some babies' I guess.

I either dunk and swish (my favorite method, easiest and helps fight stains) or I use our poo spatula to scrape it off (I usually do that when it's a pocket dipe cuz I don't like getting poo into the velcro! :yuck)

I tried liners but it was an extra step that was annoying since ds only poops every other day and they bunched up. :shrug3

I thought I would hate dunking or using the spatula (okay, so the spatula isn't my fave.:shifty) but it's really not bad and I found I was having to do that anyway since the liners bunched up and didn't catch all the poo. :shrug I want to put as little amount of poo into my washer as possible.

we have to rinse with the diaper sprayer in the toilet. The liners work, but AK only poops every few days and I never manage to have the liners on when she actually poops. She hates the liners, btw; they seem to be uncomfortable. :shrug I tried just putting it in the washer without rinsing, but I had clumps of poop and food afterwards. :sick

Where do you guys keep these spatulas that you use for dirty diapers? I can't make myself use a spatula for this reason. :yuck

All of our diapering stuff is in the master bedroom and bathroom... it's about all I use our bathroom for. I keep a spatula under the sink in this little token bucket my brother brought back from a casino- kind of like a toilet brush sitting in it's holder. Not my favorite method ever but it works. Like I said, I don't mind dunking and swishing prefolds, that works great, but when it's a pocket dipe, dunking seems to make the mess worse when the poo sticks to the velcro. :yuck

I wash my spatula off in the sink after every use too. Like I said, that is all I use my bathroom for so cross contamination doesn't worry me as much.

We were going to do a diaper sprayer but dh couldn't figure out the DIY one and we didn't have a lot of money at the time. I'd heard some people say the diaper sprayer splashed pooey water every where and I was afraid I wouldn't like it so we never ended up getting one.

If there's enough to shake off, we'll do that and then toss it in. Lately though I find that we need a diaper sprayer now that the kids are toddlers but I have yet to hook it up.

I keep mine on a high shelf on the changing table (which never gets used these days but is a great storage spot!). I wrote "BATHROOM" on both sides in permanent marker so we can never, never get confused!

I didn't like the liners when I tried them with S. It seemed like they kept getting bunched & her poop missed it. I am "afraid" of the sprayer-- I have a water loving 7 y/o with little impulse control. Not to mention a 2 y/o who copies everything he does. I tried a spatula, I hated it. I had to wash the darn thing every time & that was just one more step. Right now the tp is working, but once R eats more & when S has a messy one that doesn't plop I have found the thing I said I would never, ever in a million years do works the best. I swish it in the toilet. :blush I use prefolds so I just put the wet diaper in the cover to walk the two steps from the toilet to the diaper pail.

I'm sure if you searched this forum you would find numerous times where I said I would never swish my diapers. I should learn to quit saying never.

I'd say 9 out of 10 poops just plop right into the toliet and there is very, very little left in the diaper anyway.

Occasionally, if the kids have eaten a TON of grapes, there might be a few pieces of undigested grape peels left over. That's happened maybe 5 or 6 times total. They clean up easily out of the washer I figure the grape peels are just as clean as the diapers are. :shrug3

:lol Today I found a few small well washed pieces of carrot in my washer. I guess R didn't quite digest it as well as I thought. But by that point, those were clean carrots, you know? I just shook them off when I hung the diapers on the line.

2nd that! And no, I don't get a lot of poopy water all over the place. I love my diaper sprayer... it just blasts the poop into the toilet. I even use the sprayer to clean the toilet, too. :)

And I personally don't recommend liners. The disposable ones are often not recommended for septic tanks (a big issue here in the Northwest where most people are on septic) and the disposable ones are also often culprits in allergic reactions.

I have used just cut-up fleece as a liner, but honestly, I found that just gave me one more thing to have to clean up.
