If your kids listen to music to fall asleep, can you please list out a few of their favorite cd's? Specific titles or musicians, styles, whatever you want to share :popcorn

ETA: If they like books-on-cd (with or without musical backgrounds), please feel free to list those too :)

We don't anymore, but George Winston was one of our go-to artists.

Kenny Loggins return to pooh corner cd is the BEST cd ever for putting Cameron to sleep. it lasts an hour and his favorite three songs are the first three. I always try to get him asleep by the fourth song.

I listened to it when I went to bed at night in high school and it was very special for me to share it with him.

We use the Fisher Price "Lullaby Baby" CD. We also love the "Songs for Saplings (http://www.songsforsaplings.com/cd_songsforsaps.php)" CD, although we only use it occasionally at bedtime because it is a bit more upbeat. There was one of the Praise Baby CDs that we liked as well.

I recently bought Sheila Walsh's lullabye CD called "God's Little Princess." She has a beautiful Scottish accent and I love the words.

My oldest fell asleep to this CD (http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/music/pid/5598570/a/Loving+Lullabies.htm) every night from the time he came home from the hospital until he was in Kindergarten.

I usually do classical music from birth-6 months. I'm brainwashed to think it's better or something. :shifty I have 10-ish classical CDs I rotate.

Then it's a mix of... Jason Mraz, Foo Fighters, Cake, Fiona Apple, Lisa Loeb, John Mayer, Lenny Kravitz, etc., and various worship CDs. :tu

Right now, R really likes Little Nut Brown Hare on CD (tho I really can't stand it and take it out as SOON as he's dozing). :shifty

I just checked out The Last Dragon on CD from our library and we started listening to that today at naptime. :) Not sure if he likes it or not.

I use a mix of music. Ollie likes to switch between Baby Beluga and Allison Krauss singing Baby Mine.

We use one called Babies Love Mozart.

My 2 girls (age 2 and 4) share a room and the youngest especially loves having it on to fall asleep to. She's a frequent night-waker so recently we got a CD player with a 'repeat' button and put it on all night - well she didn't wake once! Miracle!

Same here! It's perfect for bedtime and will put us all out. Although I listened to it mostly in college not high school. :giggle

There is one that has Michael W Smith songs put to "lullaby" sounding instruments that worked like a charm for Little Man. Now he'll sleep with or with out it. The girls used to have music, too. It was some mix of classical songs. Now they sometimes put on the sound machine, which plays a range of choices, but they always choose the rainforest birds.

You could try a cd called Snuggle Down and Say Goodnight. It starts out with a thing about going to sleep, then talks through relaxation techniques. Then it has a story about bears, w/ words and intonations to encourage sleep, and it ends with very relaxing music. It's the only thing we found to help dd1 learn to stop wiggling long enough to go to sleep.:rockon

It's designed for 3-8 year olds. we only used it for less than a year, but was worth it's weight in gold, since it lead to her learning to fall asleep on her own.:tu

Oh, now that she can sit still long enough to go to sleep, she enjoys Enya's Number the stars (or something like that).

My little one falls asleep to Sounds of the Earth: Ocean Waves (http://www.amazon.com/Sounds-Of-The-Earth-%28Series%29/e/B000APLP0Y). It seems to calm her down at night and she sleeps very soundly with it (and not too bad without it). There is a whole collection of sounds you can get (my fave is the thunder and rainstorm but DH thinks its to "unnerving" to sleep to :no LOL)

I also noticed I need to have this cranked for her to calm down and actually fall asleep...go figure.

We use music a lot. One of my long standing favorites has been Transitions by Burt and Joe Wolffe. But this past February I bought a CD by Sally Clarkson's oldest son, Joel. It's called The Night as Bright as Day, and I love it. And so do the kids. If I can't find it, I can be pretty sure they've swiped it, lol. You can listen to some of it here:

We have one of the Rock-a-bye albums (metallica). They play a specific band's music like lullabys. I also downloaded a CD of hymns played onaccoustical guitar. Henry doesn't need either to fall asleep, but they're both nice to listen to.

I'm going to have to check this out. We're big Metallica fans here, although I find the original music soothing. :shrug3

The girls were really fond of the floppy sleep game, but we stopped listening to it when we moved upstairs and into separate bedrooms.

we like Itzhak Perlman's Cinema Serenade. I'm also a fan of just using a sound soother with rain sounds (maybe it's because i live in Seattle-LOL)

Their Playground CDs are also awesome-not so good for sleeping though.
