for those who teach cursive first

Which do you prefer? Please let me know what you liked/disliked about what you use(d). Thanks!

I used A Beka and liked it, I really like how their cursive looks. DS was 5 and in kindergarten. He did great with the individual letters but it was too much concentration for him when it went to words and sentences. So we went to printing and this year (2nd grade) I had him review letters in the A Beka cursive and have had him copy a few words or a short sentence that I write. We only do it once or twice a week, I figure we'll do more in 3rd grade.

I did recently have someone tell me though "why couldn't he just write in cursive but not connect the letters?". If I had thought of that I would have tried it then.
