If you homeschool in Virginia, what is your experience, good or bad? Was it a big hassle? Also, did you have to register your child with the school district at age 5?

I'm registering Sam this year. I've never lived anywhere else, but there's lots of Homeschoolers in Virginia & the HSDLA is here.
I think it's relatively easy & there's lots of support.

You have to register at 5 but you can send a letter saying your delaying your child a year for social/physical/emotional reasons (that is what we are doing).

I decided against that bc I didn't want that in his school file - kwim? JIC we ended up putting him in Public School later - I didn't want him labeled. It is an option tho.

The religious exemption option only has to be filed once, but can be a little bit more annoying.
