We're at my il's house for the week. Lilly Pie is having a rough time sleeping in a new place with so many people around, and is doing lots of catnaps in arms and waking up until it's dark and quiet here. It's not really that different that home :P, but there we have a familiar bed to lie on. ;)

So after the 3rd time she'd woken up after I nursed her to sleep, I said "I'm tired of nursing you to sleep. It would be nice if you'd just go to bed."

My mil said "Well, there's a crib up there. You could put her in and let her cry."

:no "And miss snuggling this sweet baby for a few more minutes?! Nah." :no

"Well, you know if you had started her early..."

"Then I would have had to get up 4 times a night to nurse her. It's fine."

"Well, a little bit of crying won't hurt her."

:banghead Seeing that she's not taking subtle hints, I turned to Lilly and said, "Do you hear what your Grandma wants to do you?! Put you in a cage in a dark strange room and let you cry yourself to sleep!! Don't worry - mommy won't abandon you in that cage up there."

:shifty She got the hint after that.

Some people require more direct subtlety. Trust you to deliver! :tu

Great comeback you had! You got the point across without being snarky! That can be hard to do.
