I keep reading about it irt wet bags & diaper pail liners (and diapers, too, I think :think ) but I have no clue what it is. Is it expensive to buy? I can sew enough to make a couple of wet bags & if the PUL isn't expensive and is relatively easy to work with I can make my own & possibly save money.

Polyurethane laminate (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyurethane_laminate) Polyurethane laminate (or "PUL") is generally a Polyester interlock knit fabric that has been laminated to a thin film of Polyurethane. This laminated fabric is useful as a wind and/or water barrier in the construction of fluid-splash protecting garments, shower curtains, outerwear clothing, cloth nappies / diapers and cloth menstrual pads

you can get some here (http://www.acutabovefabrics.com/store/WsDefault.asp?Cat=PUL&Sub=24&isThumbs=Yes&Thumbs=100) or here (http://www.diapershop.com/)

Just FYI--it wears out over time. My Fuzzi Bunz are about 2.5 years old and starting to leak. :mad I prefer nylon.

Lisa, I really think you got a bum deal. :hug2

I have some PUL diapers that are 6 years old and still going VERY strong with absolutely no leaks. :shrug

If you are looking to buy PUL try finding an online co-op. You'll get a much better price that way. I can usually get it for about 5.50/yd. It's not the easiest thing to work with but it's not terrible either. It just takes a little patience, a new sewing machine needle (Schmetz universal needles are what I've had the best results with, with ballpoint being second best) and plenty of pins. Some people are against using pins in PUL but I find that a trip through a hot dryer seals up any little pin holes just fine.

i second the coop idea...it is kinda weird to sew with...the foot grabs it differently.

fyi...it does wear out as someone else has said....especially if they are being washed everyday for years

PUL is relatively easy to sew with, after a bit of a learning curve. I've also bought ProCare for use as a wetbag & diaper, which was easy to sew with & held up well. It is similar to PUL but a bit firmer or sturdier to sew with (? maybe less slippy). MDC has great diaper sewing forums with answers to pretty much every question you might have.
