I was sorta curious :shifty and so I looked up Babywise on amazon.com to see what kind of reviews it has.... and this guy is totally cracking me up....

"The author of this book is Gary Ezzo, M.A. Note that his suffix is "M.A.", not "M.D." He is not a medical doctor. I am not sure why he feels compelled to note his Master of Arts degree - I do not know anyone with a Master's degree that signs his name this way."

and "Those who strongly disagree with such rigorous scheduling have probably already fled to "The Baby Book" by William Sears M.D. (not "M.A.") "

I can tell you exactly why he signs is "MA". A lot of people will think it is some sort of specialized medical degree if they even notice it is MA and not MD.

So what even is a master of arts, anyway? A four-year degree with a major in Liberal Arts?

No, an MA is usually a two year program after a four year degree. MAs are in subjects that are not directly science related. I have an MA in Anthropology. And no, I never put MA after my name unless it is a professional document and required for credentials.

I don't think his is even a real MA- I know he got some kind of honorary degree from BIOLA University (my alma mater, sadly) based on "life experience" and not on actual study.

Me too! Where did you get yours? Not to highjack the thread or anything!

But I have a BA and a MA in Anthropology, a in International Relations and a Teaching Certificate.........does this make me a pro in child rearing? What is his MA in anyway? :think

Me too! Where did you get yours?

My undergrad degree is from George Mason in VA (with a little Smithsonian tossed in there); My MA is from the University of South Carolina. My specialty is Archaeology (North American prehistory). And you? Maybe we have crossed paths?

What is his MA in anyway?

It's something like 'ministry', but much of it is based on 'life experience'. The timeline at Ezzo.info has the specifics.

Nope. Opposite coasts! I got my BA from Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ..........Dr. Don Johanssen (the guy who found "Lucy") was one of my professors. And I got my MA from SDSU.......San Diego State University. I focused a lot on BioArchaeology. How cool!!! :cool
