My older two kids got told in church this morning that "discipline" was "Doing what you need to do, even when you don't want to do it."

:hunh

:banghead

We had a long discussion about discipline after that. I told them discipline was teaching, and that self-discipline was just learning to do right. That obedience is following directions because you love the person giving directions. And that "doing what you need to do, even when you don't want to do it" is just following directions.

Sheesh...:no2 What a messed up definition! :doh

I heard in elementary school that "obedience is doing what you are told, when you are told, with the right heart attitude". I am struggling to get that out of my head, the whole fto thing.

ugh....

good thing you were there to 're-educate' them to the truth of the matter.
