I will tell more of the story but its for my SIL not me. Ironic really if you've read my other post. :giggle

Anyhow, I need some suggestions for curriculum that isn't Bible based or heavy on Christian content. Pre-K. I need it pretty fast too so if you have links that would be great. Basically, what do non-Christians do for HS? :scratch

Oak Meadow (http://www.oakmeadow.com/)

Five in a Row (http://www.fiveinarow.com/) If she doesn't buy the Bible suppliment. I don't think any of the main manuals have references to christianity. She will still have to find Phonics and Math programs to go suppliment it.

I did a google search and this site (http://experts.about.com/q/Home-Schooling-1554/non-religious-homeschool-Internet.htm) poped up. They recommend Sonlight here a quote from the site:
I do recommend Sonlight Curriculum (http://www.sonlight.com) as a Christian curriculum that is open-minded and not steeped in religion. The religious portions can be eliminated and the rest of the curriculum is quite excellent, and is very popular with LD kids/families. I know you did not ask for curriculum recommendations, but the online support often goes hand in hand with a curriculum, if you take my meaning. For Sonlight users (or anyone who uses a similar method), there is an excellent secular email group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SonlightSecular/.

I know nothing about this site (http://www15.serrahost.com/myeducationathomecom/Categories.bok?category=Non-religious+Home+School+Packages) but it cam up when I googled "non-religious homeschool curriculum."

ETA: oh I just realized that you mentioned specifically you are looking for preschool stuff. Let me see what I can find preschool wise....

Oak Meadow does have a preschool program. Here is (http://www.oakmeadow.com/curriculum/overviews/PKov.pdf) the overview.

FIAR does too, BFIAR (http://www.fiveinarow.com/before/) and is what I usually recomend for preschool but it does contain one Christian book, "If Jesus Came to My House". I do know a few non-Christians that use FIAR and just ommit what is religous about it. But I have no idea if your SIL can overlook stuff like that or not.

I did a search on non-religious homeschool preschool curriculum and couldn't come up with anything. You know though, she could just buy preschool workbooks from Wal-mart and then just teach the child his ABC's, introduce him to numbers, and read lots of books, play games with him, explorer nature together, paint, draw, read poems, do finger plays and that kind of thing. She doesn't really need a curriculum.

Lol.... non Christians do the same thing as Christians, minus the Bible content I'd guess. :giggle Letters, numbers, writing your name (if they're ready) playing.... at mothering.com there is a homeschooling section and lots of non Christian homeschoolers, you could ask them :shrug

Well *I* know that but SIL thinks there is some sort of difference in most curriculum. I told her she could just leave out the Bible stuff. :shrug

Are you talking about a package? Maybe the K-12 online program?

I piece mine together with: What Your x Grader Needs To Know; Saxon Math; Wordly Wise; Easy Grammar; Spelling Power......

I'm not hsing yet, but I've heard good things about this: http://www.amblesideonline.org/New.shtml

It's a literature-based curriculum like Sonlight, and I believe that it's based loosely on Charlotte Mason's theories. Also, it's free, online and most of the books are easy to find at the library or cheap copies for purchase. HTH
