I'm thinking of using HWT for kindergarten. Shall I use before Explode the Code also, or are they teaching the same thing?

No. HWT is just a handwriting program. ETC is phonics - they are completely different.

ETC assumes your child knows all his/her letter sounds and starts with CVC words. There is a Ready, Set, Go for the Code series if your K'er needs brushing up on his/her sounds.

If I did ETC I would start with get ready for the code.

okay, I think I'll try both, ETC and HWT.

Thanks

I use both and love both :tu

Be aware that the Get Set for the Code series goes through all the consonants and their sounds. Your child may be ready to start book 1. If you google Explode the Code, you may be able to find sample pages.

I've used the Get Set series for my 4/5 year olds and then both boys were about 6 when they did book 1 of Explode the Code.

I :heart ETC and highly recommend it!

Thanks, I'm thinking we will use get ready for the code and HWT for our phonics and writing.

Do you think it will matter if I use some three lined paper I already have, I saw that HWT uses two lined paper.
