I have a maya wrap which both dd and I love! However, I am interested in finding a second carrier that will distribute the weight over both shoulders in order to increase my options (of comfort for myself). DD particularly likes the hip carry and the tummy to tummy carry. I have not really tried the back carry bc it seems a little insecure to me, but I would like to have that option especially now that she is bigger and has quick little arms that can reach out and grap almost anything :grin

From what I have seen online the Moby wrap looks a little complicated - like once it is on you probably don't really want to take it back off again? The Baby Nest looks very interesting (thanks apbfmom for sharing the link! Here it is again in case you missed it http://www.mybabynest.com/Position.html) Any others that you really like?

I am open to suggestions ladies!! TIA!!

I LOVE the moby w/ my newborn, but would get a sturdier wrap (NOT stretchy jersey cotton) with an older baby or toddler. I don't think it's hard to get on.

What kind would you get for an older baby or toddler? Are you thinking of a Bjorn or Ergo? Or do you mean that a moby would be better than the baby nest bc it is not as stretchy?

I agree about the moby being wonderful for front carries and little ones, bigger and back carries are more difficult since the fabric stretches BUT with alot of tightening it works-
any wrap you come across is going to be simular in use to the moby, but there are some with out the stretch. Didymos http://www.didymos.de/english/index_e.htm are great esp in colder weather. I haven't got that one yet- but have tried a friend and loved it. My new fav is the one in my avatar a gypsy mama http://www.gypsymama.com/ this one is the only wrap we took to Disneyland yesterday and it was easy to tie ds into.
Now all of these carriers are pricey- if you want to try to get them cheaper second hand try
http://www.thebabywearer.com/no_forum_access.htm you can also read about all the brands and types of carries and carriers- have you thought about a mei tie?
have i thrown too much info out there... i'm obsessed with babywearing!!!

If you live next to a wal-mart you can easily get a beautiful wrap that's not stretchy(good for older children) by buying some 100% cotton woven fabric. I like batic fabric cause it comes in all sorts of beautiful colors and doesn't frey very much. If you can sew you can easily hem the edges too. I would suggest a 5 yard piece of fabric that is at least 25-30 inches wide. I buy 2.5 yards and then cut it in half long wise and sew it together and it ends up being around 5 yards long. I also would suggest a Ergo. I made one because they are a little to expensive for me.
