I don't have any links or other resources for you but I find it works really well in soups and chili.

I've only used it a few times, but we flaked the tvp mixed it with liquid egg substiute, with some veggies and made scrambled eggs.......they were pretty good

I have mixed it half and half with ground beef to stretch it and it came out good

It is absolutely wonderful in Chili! :yum This is all that we have used it in. I am kind of cautious of Dh, he might become suspicious of it if it's too "revealed". He's not too fond of eating anything called "textured vegetable protein". :rolleyes

Very easy and quick to use in place of ground meat in almost anything

that's actually what i was wondering: can you just use it in place of groiund beef in anything. but now i guess it doesn't matter, as i discovered my nursling's sensitive to soy. :(

bummer!

yea, you can use it just like ground beef. just soak in hot (or boiling) water for about 10 minutes. equal parts tvp and water. for color add browning (the caramel-only type) and for flavor add something like McKay's beef-style seasoning (veggie).

have you tried seitan? it's very easy to make as well. :)

It's also a delicious filing in potstickers - rehydrate with a little tamari, green onion, fresh ginger and add tablespoons into premade wonton wrappers or potsticker wrappers if you can find them :)

7/8 cup of water or broth brought to a boil, add 1 cup tvp and let hydrate--then I use just like meat in any recipe calling for it :)

I like to use Lentils! They are a great ground beef sub for chili and they cook up quick. You can make lentil loaf and lentil burgers, as well.

I posted a chili recipe here a while back that used bulgur and it was fantastic! It was a great beef substitute and dh liked that it wasn't pretending to be something it wasn't (that's his main issue with soy products).

I don't have any recipes. They cook pretty fast. so, you can just throw them in any saucey dish that would take meat. The will soak up sauce though so keep and eye on them. You can probably google for lentil burgers or you can check my favorite cookbooks. I'm pretty sure it's Ben's Lentil Burgers in How it All Vegan.
