Do any of you use a Bible history or Bible based history curriculum that you love? I am considering Mystery of History and Lessons from History, but it's so hard to know what they're really like based on catalog reviews. Are there others I should look at? TIA! :smile

Yes, lol, my own! It's not that difficult to write your own with help from the net, just time consuming. I am never completely happy with curriculum's others have written. In fact anything, even knitting patterns. I'm always tweaking things. :) I can post some links if your intrested in taking that route.
As for pre packaged ones I have heard good things about 'Story of the World'.

WOW, Jo! These are great!! :tu I've just spent at least an hour visiting these links, and I'm delighted! :hearts Thanks for taking the time to post them. I'll definitely have the confidence now to develop my own plan. I made my own year long unit for American History this year, and we really enjoyed it. I didn't know where to start with Bible history, especially with readers and read alouds. Now I do!! :highfive

We're doing chronological history, blending biblical events into the world events that happened at the same times. I'm going to order Story of the World vol. 1 and Veritas Old Test/Ancients homeschool kit this yr... I can't decide between them, they'll compliment each other and one can never have too many history books right?? :jump

Moon - that's just the kind of thing i have in mind. I haven't seen Story of the World, but you and Jo both memtioned it. I'll have to check it out. You might find Jo's links helpful, too, if you need any ideas to round out your curriculum. Thanks for the tip! :tu

I just want to point out that Story of the World is just world history and not necessarily Bible history.

BTW, we use it :mrgreen but I add in bible stories. One of the books my kids really liked was 365 Bedtime Bible Stories. I think it's a Methodist publication (not positive on that one)

We also have a couple other story bibles. My son's favorite is the above one, and it's great because it has a small section to read then questions at the end of the reading.

We follow AmbleSide Online (modified though) for history but for Biblical history we use The Greenleaf guide to Old Testament History....ah man I just sold my Story of the World this morning. ;)

I thought it was rather pre-digested junk food! LOL
But then again I'm into CM so take that with a grain of salt.

I knew SOTW isn't biblical, another reason for getting it AND Veritas :lol Veritas does work biblical history into world history. I like that SOTW is geared for elementary grades, dd, starting K this yr, comes along with big ds for history. Someone talk me out of ordering the audio version too? :P We add gobs of library books and internet sites on related topics in constantly too.
