Anyone have a Samsung fridge?
DH hates our fridge and kitchen appliances are on sale right now. He found a Samsung fridge on sale that he wants. It got great reviews on the store site where he would buy it, but bad reviews on Amazon. The bad reviews said the plastic in the interior cracks, the ice maker need to be repeatedly drained, things like that.
We have a Samsung washer and dryer that I love, no complaints at all. Apparently there's also a class action lawsuit against Samsung for them not honoring their warranties, or something. I didn't look at it very hard. ---------- Post added at 10:10 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:09 AM ---------- We are specifically looking for a French door fridge without a water dispenser. We have two chest freezers in our garage and need large fridge space in the kitchen. |

Re: Anyone have a Samsung fridge?
We recently bought a new refrigerator and the salesman said to avoid Samsung. A lot of repair issues that the other brands don't have.

Re: Anyone have a Samsung fridge?
The more reviews I read, the more I don't want it. Some pople saying it stopped cooling properly within the first 30 days and Samsung not answering the phone for warranty service. Many others wrote their food started spoiling within 18 months of purchasing the fridge, no recourse.

Re: Anyone have a Samsung fridge?
I had one. Oh, it was such a beautiful machine. But then it started acting up. Long story short, it had to be replaced. The repairman (who came to our house SEVEN times to work on it) recommended that we avoid Samsung and LG refrigerators. This was about a year ago.

Re: Anyone have a Samsung fridge?
We have a kenmore that was made by samsung. Two of the door bins have cracked, but I think it is our fault. Our boys are really hard on things. One practically slammed the milk in the bin/shelf when it cracked, and I have an awful habit of closing the door (french door) by pulling on the bottom bin/shelf, even now that it cracked, I still do it. One day, it is going to break on the other side, and all the jelly jars are all going to crash to the floor.

Re: Anyone have a Samsung fridge?
Another unhappy Samsung owner here! We got the Samsung fridge because it matched the oven and dishwasher that we bought (which we love both of those!) But, the fridge is terrible. (Icemaker always dribbled, and now it's completely dead. We make ice by hand.) And, from what I've read on FB when these discussions come up, they say that most repairmen will tell you to avoid a Samsung fridge and won't even work on it!

Re: Anyone have a Samsung fridge?
Our LG fridge has been fantastic. We're just tired of a side by side and the poor lighting (newer models have better lighting). Dh wants to replace it, I want to wait a few more years.

Re: Anyone have a Samsung fridge?
We had a Samsung fridge with a 4 yr extended warranty. Completely seized up at 4.5 yrs and had to be replaced. When I googled the model number, the exact same problem came up over and over again.

Re: Anyone have a Samsung fridge?
I think I've convinced DH to wait a few years by getting a bread box. We will gain a lot more space in our fridge if we get the bread, bagels, rolls, and tortillas out of the fridge. We all have different preferences in breads so we often have 6-8 packages in the fridge at one time.
We cannot find a brand of fridge that has consistently good reviews. I'm hoping that in 3-4 years it's easier to choose. Our fridge is only 8 1/2 years old and it still works great. We really want a French door model, though. Which is not a reason to replace a working fridge, in my opinion. |

Re: Anyone have a Samsung fridge?
I know the French door model is more modern and trendy, and that's what we have. I won't buy another one though. The freezer drawers are always so disorganized. It's almost like having a mini chest-freezer. I hate digging around in there trying to find stuff.
Also, when we go in the fridge, we almost always have to open both of the doors. I don't know if it's just habit, or if we really need to do that. But that's what we do.

Re: Anyone have a Samsung fridge?
Dh is set on a French door. I will never get another side-by-side. They have the absolute worst efficiency of space. If you get a regular fridge, you still open one big door so opening both doors is no biggie for me.

Re: Anyone have a Samsung fridge?
We have a top fridge, bottom freezer. It only has one door. I love it. Never goes on sale though.

Re: Anyone have a Samsung fridge?
I have a French door with the meat/soda pull out tray by whirlpool. I really like it. It has an ice maker that we can't hook up due to our kitchen design, but I adore the French doors. Here appliances are on back order due to world problems and can take at least 4 months to get delivered.

Re: Anyone have a Samsung fridge?
I ordered a new shelf today to replace the one that was cracked. I found out it was not a Samsung from Kenmore, but it is an LG.
Anyway, I do like the French doors, but I do agree that the bottom freezer is like a chest freezer. I typically keep only immediate use things in it, and then store everything else in the big upright freezer and the garage refrigerator/freezer.
