veggie pregnancies
what did this look like for you?
and specifically, how did you get in 80 to 100 g of protein? I need some good/great ideas please. my disclaimer is that I lean heavily and gravitate toward being veggie. I do love fish, eggs and milk. We do some chicken now and again. But, during pregnancy meat absolutely makes me gag and I just can't eat it. So, please help me with some alternatives. |

Re: veggie pregnancies
Here's a list of protein values in vegetarian foods. This should help you plan your diet, or at least keep track of your protein intake. It is very doable to get enough vegetarian protein while pregnant each day.

Re: veggie pregnancies
Lots of cheese, legumes, nuts, and tofu were my veggie pregnancy staples.

Re: veggie pregnancies
I ate strictly vegetarian for all my pregnancies. I didn't even worry about protein, but my midwife reminded me to eat lots of eggs, peanuts, yogurt, etc. It was fine. If I worried about it at all I would eat an extra hard boiled egg or a peanut butter sandwich. All my pregnancies were fine and I gained the appropriate amount of weight. The doctor was even impressed that my iron levels were so high.....since I was a strict vegetarian.

Re: veggie pregnancies
When I am not pregnant I only need 40 grams of protein so now that I am pregnant and a vegan I aim for 65 grams of protein. It is much easier to get this- beans and rice is a complete protein for the day, veggies do have some protein, bagels have up to 10 grams, dark leafy greens, etc.
Hope this helps! Here is a link http://www.chiphealth.com/health_top...gh_protein.php |
