The trouble with correcting those sorts of things is that it isn’t only a writing problem or a grammar problem. There is a problem with clarity of thinking, even misunderstanding of basic terminology. I doubt they could explain their arguments coherently out loud, either.
It begs the question of how they got through all those classes before senior year.

I think that homeschooling can help prevent these problems just because of the one-on-one nature of instruction. The children probably have to speak in complete sentences more often than they would in a classroom.
