Tension Tamers

by TulipMama

I first started using this essential oil/massage oil blend for growing pains. But now I also use it as a tool for helping my boys relax when they are out of sorts. I'll have them lie down on my bed, and I'll rub their backs with a little oil, sometimes praying silently and sometimes singing quietly.

Tension Tamer Massage Oil

7 drops Rosemary
7 drops Lemon
7 drops Lavendar

In a small, dark bottle combine the above essential oils. Fill bottle with olive oil. Gently roll bottle to mix oils.

Tension Tamer Spritzer

7 drops Rosemary
7 drops Lemon
7 drops Lavendar

In a small spritzer bottle combine the above essential oils. Fill bottle 3/4 full with bottled water and 1/4 full with vodka. Shake and spritz in the air.

(Oh, and I bet you're not suprised that one of my favorite drinks is Tension Tamer iced tea! But don't drink too much if you're breastfeeding--peppermint suppresses milk production.)

I feel silly asking, but how big of a bottle is a small bottle? What type of bottle do you use? Would 8 oz. be small? *blush* :)

Also, what can I use instead of vodka? We don't have any around here. LOL ;)

Thank you for sharing this here. :)

I used to massage my first daughter, but I haven't done it lately at all. :( I'm going to give it a go! :D

You mentioned not to drink too much peppermint tea when breastfeeding. I'd also like to add that rosemary and peppermint aren't recommended during pregnancy, although some say peppermint is good for morning sickness, I think. ?? And I've heard you need to be careful with your use of lavendar during pregnancy (I had experience with the truth of that one :)), but some say it's good during prengnacny. *shrug* Anyway, it's best to use caution when using essential oils/herbs during pregnancy as well as during lactation. There are a couple links on our pregnancy page http://www.gentlechristianmothers.com/topics/cradled.php . :)

8 oz should be fine. I don't know my sizes. *blush* And you can start with less EOs (the other day I started with 5 drops each but went up to 7.)

I didn't have vodka on hand, either. (Would I sound like a complete lush if I admitted I miss the cheap vodka from Ukraine? Soooo great for projects!) I believe it's mostly intended as a preservative. I suppose it can be made without any alcohol/preservative.

Thanks for the further info on herbs/EOs during pregnancy

Off topic: Hey Jeri, can this blog be set so more posts show up on the first page? I would like to be able to read more at a time or check the comments more quickly! Thanks! (only if it's not much trouble)

Thank you, tulipmama! :) I won't be able to shop until this weekend, but when I try this out, I'll let you know how it goes. :)

Carol, I made it so that it shows 30 days of entries to the blog on the first page. I hope that helps! :)
