Bear hug WIN
B is teething and thus not sleeping well and just feeling crummy. It's led to extra big feelings. Last night, DH was helping her up the stairs, and at the top, she tried to bolt away from him and he had to grab her to make sure she didn't fall. She didn't want to be grabbed and a tantrum ensued. I came up behind her and lifted her from behind with a bear hug. She was kicking, but didn't get me because I lifted her from behind (as Crystal's method suggests.) I calmly and quietly said in her ear, "you are very upset. you are very tired." She immediately relaxed and whispered back to me, "say, 'shhhh, shhhh'" So I did, and she became calm and happy (for a little while, anyway - darn those teeth!)
