Default potential tooth decay

Our dog needs some intervention wrt her teeth. She's about nine and never even had bad breath up until a few years ago. It's bad now, very bad. We are concerned about other health problems that can result.

The vet would like to put her under and do a cleaning. Has anyone done this, and what did you think? Are there other options (beside brushing, she will not let us in there and I think we are beyond that). TIA!

it's probably a good call if you can see lots of build-up. if it doesn't get dealt with, dogs can be in dental pain or loose their teeth. just make sure you have them run the anesthesia bloodwork first to make sure it is safe.

It would be a really good idea to take her in to the vet and schedule a cleaning. I have been on both ends of this, as an owner bringing my dog in to get her teeth cleaned, and also as the vet tech cleaning dog/cats teeth.

I would have them do blood work prior to putting her under anesthesia.
