Re: ETLDTD week 6 -- 8/4/8
I'm catching up on the reading. Empathy is a tough one for me. The script "you wanted __________, so you __________ " really helps.
I struggle with the disrespect/tone of voice that she talked about, It really does color my perception negatively. Gotta work on that.

Re: ETLDTD week 6 -- 8/4/8
This challenge has been so good for me! Thank you, SonshineMama for organizing it. Good luck this week.
Attributing positive intent has been a tough one for me. It feels a little contrived, but I'm pleasantly surprised when it works. It's enough to keep me working at it. I'm off to do more reading . . . . . . . . . .

Re: ETLDTD week 6 -- 8/4/8
This morning started out so good. Everything was fine in the 15min between when I got up and left for a run When I left both boys were awake and happy. BUT, when I got back Kyle was screaming because dh made his oatmeal wrong and it has just gone downhill from there. It is only 10am and Cole has melted down once, and Kyle twice...and there was some sort of shrieking and screaming coming from the playroom a minute ago, but that seems to have resolved itself :/.
Okay. I am making the choice to turn this around as much as I can and make this day better than what is has been so far. Even if it is just that I make it through this day with a better attitude.

Re: ETLDTD week 6 -- 8/4/8
I am still reading. I am just to chapter 10. I do not have page numbers so that part of the challenge is out of me. I have been sick for a month. I am sick again today. My six yr old is helping fold and put away laundry in between his home school lessons. My three yr old is playing nice with the neighbor in the living room. So I am very thankful all is going peaceful in the house. DH is on the road again. I am trying to accept the way things are and not being upset at my health or my traveling husband. My boys are doing wonderful over the past month.

Quote:
I got everyone dressed and shoes on without too much of a fuss, and got them out the door to go to a store that had my favorite spaghetti sauce on sale so I could stock up on it Then we hit Goodwill and found a book for them. They did pretty good. Came home, fed them an easy no fussing lunch and they went down for long naps without a problem They woke up from their naps happy and have been playing fuss-free since then. Dh will be home soon and I will be leaving to go help out with the church youth group.

Re: ETLDTD week 6 -- 8/4/8
yay Amber!
So glad these threads are helping everyone. Maybe we should make this thread weekly instead of daily because I am wondering if that is easier I made it through the hospital and jury duty. Tuesday, the hospital was a long Day. LisaM watched the girls while I took Luke and that was a huge help. Yesterday I got sent home at noon from jury duty. MamaMansa had my kiddos and so I went there and didn't leave until 3:30pm. So today, I am pretty tired I bet Laura's more tired though because she had 6 children instead of 3 We made thtrough most of the week w/o any too major issues. Leaving Laura's was difficult for Savana. I had to start taking off her costume while she melted down because her choice was to let me do it. WHen I went to grab her clothes, she snuck back in her costume. I needed a break from her and decided to put my stuff in the van first. Came back and Laura had dressed her I am so blessed to have such wonderful GCM's in my life Both that my kids know, like and trust. The only problem w/leaving the kiddos with people was that Luke was kind of disappointed that he didn't get to stay with Lisa on Tuesday. I had a couple of minor moments along with just an overall feeling of tiredness from being gone like that 2 days in a row. I was just glad it was 3 and I was excused from day 2 of jury duty I am hoping today is low key and mellow but realize that after our schedule has been so crazy it's unlikely so my goal today is to be "there" enough to help everyone get through the day with grace
