Question on Pearls Methods

I have a question about the Pearls and their methods. Someone was saying that with their training you don't deal with the child when they do something wrong, you train them to not do something wrong in the first place. This makes NO sense to me at all.

Can anyone explain?

You set a stage. . . you set the child up to do wrong. ..and then discipline that. For instance. You take the cookie jar, put it right within their sight, you make sure there's a step stool where they can see/reach it, you tell them "Do not touch the cookie jar!", thereby making sure they see it, and know that they are not allowed to touch it, then you leave, peek around the corner, and when the child gets to the cookie jar, you come right back in and switch them. You are 'training' them, 'conditioning' them.

Well, that's just an example. But, it's the whole premise of what they teach. ..
