applesauce bolied over in jars?
I got a little side tracked watching the game last night and over processed my applesauce. The jars literally boiled over and down the sides. The seals still seem good- do you think they are ok??

Re: applesauce bolied over in jars?
Boiling water canner? I would open them and do it again with new lids. If the lids have popped down properly and I really didn't have time to do it over... I might freeze them instead, just to be sure. As a rule, though, I won't keep anything in the pantry that didn't seal by the book. ETA: If they boiled over, that means there was opportunity also for water to get inside and mess up the pH, which is key to safe canning. You might want to open them and have a taste to see. If water got in but it still tastes fine, maybe freeze to be on the safe side.

Re: applesauce bolied over in jars?
Thank you! the seal is popped down, we opened one and it doesn't seem like there is water in it. I may put them in bags in the freezer, they have 1/4 inch headspace, I don't think that's enough space for expansion.
