Pre Breakfast Snack Ideas?
I am after some ideas for pre-breakfast snacks.
I need something for my kids to nibble on while they are waiting for breakfast to be prepared. I don't really want to give them dried breakfast cereal, as they have cereal for breakfast, and often as a snack later in the day (with dried fruit). Preferably, something that is easy to prepare and can be left out overnight so that it is ready to go first thing would be ideal. Thanks! Natalie

Re: Pre Breakfast Snack Ideas?
Ours is always fruit because that is quick and then by the time they are done with it I have breakfast ready usually and then I don't serve fruit with breakfast (since they just had it).

Re: Pre Breakfast Snack Ideas?
Mine have always helped with breakfast. So, they snack alongside. How old are they?
I keep a couple of bowls of fruit in the kitchen. My kids can always grab those. We have started doing cold cereal because they can all do it themselves. I put the cereal in a big glass cookie jar and there is a scoop in it.

Re: Pre Breakfast Snack Ideas?
I think some moms give a lighter breakfast and probably end up giving a morning snack or their children eat more later in the day. The ones that need a snack while they are fixing breakfast are probably like my kids: big eaters for breakfast and lunch and rarely eat much after lunch time. So... I make a big breakfast, I mean not REAL big but fruit, eggs, bagels and peanut butter that sort of thing. I do this just because they are really hungry and if I don't do that I'll just be feeding them all morning long and it won't end up being as healthy because I'll be grabbing quick things.

Re: Pre Breakfast Snack Ideas?
kefir, almond milk, fruit or cheese
We finally figured out that E can't handle a big breakfast right after she wakes up, so we often do a snack, then bigger breakfast, or a small breakfast and big, early lunch. |

Re: Pre Breakfast Snack Ideas?
If I'm making a "real" breakfast, like pancakes or something, I'll give DS raisins or a banana to snack on while he waits. Otherwise, I try to keep breakfast quick and easy - sunbutter on a rice cake, yogurt with some cold cereal mixed in, or scrambled eggs.
