probably exposed to chicken pox
DD was in Sun. school on the 22nd, and the boy she was sitting next to was diagnosed with chicken pox on the 25th, so we're thinking most likely she will get it. And I will catch it from her, which is what I'm a little scared about .
Is there anything we can do while we're waiting? I got some vitamin C pills and I think I'll take some raw garlic. A lot of things we can't get here, but I can try .

Re: probably exposed to chicken pox
Thanks for the responses!
No, I never had it. I'm not pregnant or anything, just worried because I know it can be much worse for adults, and it would be hard for me to take care of DD if I got it. It's been 13 days, and no signs of anything.

Rhus tox is a homeopathic remedy that's supposed to help when you have it.
I'd increase vitamin D and fish oils as well as anything else you do to boost the immune system.

Just as an encouragement if you ever do get it: I got it as a pregnant adult and didn't have it any worse than an ordinary childhood case. I know it can be worse for adults but apparently it doesn't always have to be. Chamomile was my best friend during that period though. |

Re: probably exposed to chicken pox
Wow would be scary if I've never had it and didn't vax dd for it(or rather got bullied to do it). I had a moderate case as a child and the pediatrician I had when dd was 20 months old bullied me into adding the shot with the first MMR which I delayed on purpose and separated as much as possible. So when I got the letter last week that someone in dd's class had it I wasn't too worried. She got some bug bites on her legs the first swelled out to quarter size and I freaked for a moment when one scabbed over but it only went as far as 3 spots. I'm pretty sure was just bug bites mosquitoes probably she had them swell out like that when we lived in Florida. Arizona doesn't have too much of a mosquito problem though.

Re: probably exposed to chicken pox
you might want to look into getting your titers checked for it. A friend of mine's dh never had it & he got his titers checked & found he had immunity for it anyway. Sometimes just being exposed to it can give you immunity.

Re: probably exposed to chicken pox
something you can do is if you ever get it, get a doctor to prescribe acyclovir. If it's taken within the first 24 hours you are supposed to get very few symptoms if any. My Pedi said it's usually only used for immuno compromised patients. But considering you are an adult you are at higher risk and could probably get it prescribed. Its the same drug that people take for cold sores and herpes.
