Re: Atkins
I do not have a scale in the house, I have no clue if I have lost anything. I still remember from my first low carb diet where they strongly advised not to weigh yourself to gauge since water weight can fluctuate a lot but rather judge by how your clothes fit. There is a medium size Leather coat I can't close all the way. I will know it is working when it finally closes. I tell you what though I feel like I am cheating. Pancakes and bacon for breakfast. Turkey salad with mayo and just a splash of apple cider vinegar to give it some zing and pizza for dinner.
---------- Post added at 12:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:31 PM ---------- Oh and I was spotting this morning, So I will be curious how my clothes fit once AF is gone. ---------- Post added at 12:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:32 PM ---------- Oh my goodness. You DO have a lot. YUM. I dont suppose you know any good alternitave for bread? I would love a BLT. I can obviously to the bacon lettuce and tomato I just need something to put the mayo on.

Re: Atkins
I've learned to make most of my sammies on lettuce or portabello mushrooms if I can get them....but oopsie rolls are indeed awesome.
---------- Post added at 04:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:20 PM ---------- So...this is officially my last AF EVER and I decided to enjoy one last AF indulge. bananas and chocolate. Also, I plan to eat popcorn tonight. I don't even care, because I know it's not going to be a binge...just enjoying some food for once and knowing that I am a healthy woman doing healthy things and loving myself and my body. and some dark chocolate. and maybe some wine. Back on the wagon tomorrow. |

Re: Atkins
I do that starting on Thanksgiving and go back on the wagon Jan 2nd. It is just too hard during holidays. I also ignore it during big get together s. Again all the macaroni and potato salad around YUM. I purposely picked this time since we are doing nothing until the 4th of July so I have a lot of time before my first official jump off the wagon for a bit.
And I even figured out how to get frozen treats. I can get the crystal light and and crush ice in the blender and pour that over the ice for a sweet treat when I am in the mood.

Re: Atkins
After mulling over this thread I decided to try something a little different. I'm finding it really hard to do Atkins properly because carbs are such a big part of my kids' diets. We often make cakes together, they eat toast, rice crakers, etc.
So I took a suggestion from upthread and decided that I'll give myself an "eat anything" window from 10am-2pm. I love my carb-free breakfast which I eat whether I'm trying to follow Atkins or not (bacon, eggs, onion, cooked in butter, cream and berries to follow). And it's usually easy to de-carb any dinner option. But lunch is my downfall. It's when I'm most likely to be out or at someone else's place, or struggling to find something to eat while the kids are racing around me. I started Saturday, with a kid's birthday to go to. I really ODed on the carbs, until the clock said 2pm and I stopped easily. She's such a great sugar cook so I came home with a sugar headache. Ugh! Saturday I ate one yummy treat (Austrian apple strudel) from the fridge was all I could think of to eat in my "eat anything" window. And today (it's 12noon Monday here) I am half way through the window and can't think of anything I want to eat. I ate two biscuits, just for the sake of it and now I have a headache and feel bleurgh and I don't want to eat anything else carby. I think I'll go and eat some left over meat and veg from dinner for lunch. So, it looks like this might be the answer for me. All that time to eat anything and I don't actually want to. But it will be helpful for when I am out, although that will probably only be a few days each week. And after the first day I've found it really easy to tell myself "You can have that at 10am" and by 10am I've usually lost interest. I hope it stays like that.

Re: Atkins
Oh it sounds like you are following the carbohydrates addicts diet. That allows for one regular meal a day. I was on that and I am just impatient with how slowly I am loosing so I switched.
So I read you can only have 3 servings of sweetner a day? Is this true? I have that with my morning coffee!

Re: Atkins
I have not met a sweetener yet that my body will not react to with an insulin burst. I am very sensitive to it, and it will make me hungry for more. I think the less sweet I allow myself, the less I want it. I even avoid sugarless gum unless I'm having bad breath. I make a 'soda' with that sweetleaf every now and then...I'd have to say maybe once every couple of weeks as a treat, and other than that I've learned that usually if I have a sweet tooth, I'm thirsty.

Re: Atkins
Oh wow I am so glad I do not react that way. I will have a random craving for something sweet and getting some sugar free jello or whipped topping with splenda will cure it nicely.
Oh speaking of which I saw a recipie for key lime pie I must try.

Re: Atkins
huh strange. I can drink diet soda all day long and do fine. In fact I did not gain back weight I lost but I quit loosing it felt like so I switched. You know how I am sticking to it is changing family dinners and making some for me. I used zucchini for noodles and made a spegetti just for me. It was delicious. I made the oopsi bread so I can have sandwiches. I made a BLT for lunch and it was amazing. You can do it, it is just a bit more work.
