dog losing hearing?
Our golden retriever is 9 years old.
I am pretty sure her hearing is getting bad. It used to be that when we would touch the back door and the blinds would rattle, if she was out in the backyard anywhere (and it is a large yard) she would hear it and run to the door. Now, I can open the door and walk outside and she may not notice I am there for a minute or until I call her. I guess there is nothing to do for it? I have no idea really. Here is a recent photo of her when we just got her shaved

Re: dog losing hearing?
Cute! Good shave job! I shaved my Golden a few times too. So I could see ticks on her better.
Nope, nothing to do but be aware of it. My 14 yr old lab does not hear as well as she used to either. I just know I have to watch her closely when outside, she won't hear me call her if she is across the yard.

A friend taught his aging & entirely deaf golden/lab mix simple sign language.

Re: dog losing hearing?
We had a redbone coonhound that went deaf. We had to rehome him, because he started biting. He couldn't hear people coming behind him, and it scared him. His reaction was to bite. Our local ASPCA sent him to a training school for deaf dogs, and rehomed him with a new owner who had experience with this issue.
