Those both sound like something my MIL would make Except my MIL wouldn't DARE use cayenne. She'd leave it out. And there would be no seasonings at all. Ever. And the white rice would be overcooked minute rice.

My x-ILs used to make this GLOP dish that was egg noodles, cream of something soup, canned mushrooms, and chicken. My xh LOVED it. Most awful stuff imaginable... but then they thought powdered mashed potatoes were delish too.

Those two statements seem to be counter intuitive...

Oh Torture!

Once my Mother made Liver and Onion and Spinach for the same meal...It took my sister and I over 3 hours to eat it. And both of us LIKE those things...but together in one meal it was a bit much.

Hot Chicken Salad

2 C cut up cooked chicken
2 C celery, sliced
1/2 C chopped almonds
2 t. grated onion
1 C mayonnaise
2 T lemon juice
1/2 C grated cheese
1 C crushed potato chips

The rest is really just gravy

Heat oven to 450. Combine all ingredients except cheese and chips. Put in casserole dish. Sprinkle cheese and chips on top and bake 10-15 minutes. Serves 6. Prisoners.

Here's the infamous Quick Chicken Noodle Casserole mentioned earlier

Combine in sauce pan:
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 can milk
1/2 lb. Velveeta cheese

Heat slowly til hot and cheese is melted. Following package directions, cook 8 oz wide egg noodles til tender. Drain well. Add 2 5 oz cans Swanson chicken. Stir in soup and cheese mixture, pour into greased casserole dish and bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until hot and bubbly.

(and this is my favorite part) serve with green salad
