We used Saint John's wort oil when we went swimming for the first time this summer. We were out for an hour and a half for two days in a row and none of us burned. We used it at the splash park the other day and didn't burn then either. We are all fairly light-skinned but we have Native American heritage which makes us less likely to burn so it can be hard to gauge exactly how well something works.
We gradually increase our sun exposure in the spring. We spend short amounts of time in the sun daily and spend the rest of our outdoor time in the shade. We used to use Badger Balm whenever we would be out for longer periods of time in the sun but this year I wanted to try something I could make myself. I've heard really good things about St J's in the herbal community. It smells really good and feels nice on the skin. |
