Otherwise, apart from being itchy and hating his cone (I asked for a new one because he was totally reaching his back leg around and getting to his face anyway with the old one), and not being allowed in direct sunlight until the stuff that dilates his eye wears off, and having loose stools because if recent worming...
Oh he's just a mess. . But he is growing! I've stopped supplementing him because I can't feel his ribs nearly as much anymore. And even still, he went from 11.something lbs at the last vet visit to 14.6 lbs at this one (that's 4 days, you guys! ) He has little bursts of playfulness . And every now and then he gets a touch of feisty puppy attitude. I'm sure he will mend up just fine, but it is a lot of work and it is spendy, and I am sooo impatient . |

Mange DH's dog got over it after the month of treatment, but his skin was super sensitive forever. I hope your little puppy gets over it quickly and has no lasting issues from it.
Yay for puppy weight gain!!!

Anyway. 6am poo covered puppy has been escorted to the bath and cleaned up with dawn. 3 or 4 mornings in a row . Airhead week for me. I TOTALLY FORGOT about not wanting to bath him so much that I strip his natural skin oils. Normally I don't, but I can't think of another solution if he's not sanitary . So I picked up some sensitive skin oatmeal/aloe/teatree dog shampoo. And on top of everything else I believe I foresee us burning through some coconut oil. |

So where'd you find this breeder??? Aren't all these things communicable (is that the right word?) between dogs, meaning they all probably have all these conditions? Sounds like the breeders need to do better.

With DH's dog we would rub him down with baby wipes after being outside. It helped get any irritants/allergens off of him without having to bathe him all the time.
A good friend of mine works at a vet clinic. I will try to remember to text her tomorrow to find out if there is anything else you can do for him.

They are military. Affected by the sequester? They aren't always sure if they are getting income from one month to the next. ETA: but I do agree with you, Molly . She did right by this litter in a lot of ways, in that she worked with them and vetted them when they were tiny and everything... But in many ways she did not. All of the things wrong with our puppies (mine especially - with the exception of his eye) are things that she could have and should have prevented. It makes me frustrated and sad, I'm not gonna lie. BUT. I feel so heartily that I'm just supposed to have grace for her and let it go. She's not breeding anymore. I have my puppy to mend over here. Not to make excuses for her. I just think she was overwhelmed with 11 surprise puppies when she had intended to be done, yk? Anyway, her female was spayed when the pups were 8 weeks old. So now she's done. (WOW editing from my iPod and I changed the order of my paragraphs . Forgive me, but I'm too sleepy to breathe. I'm going to go pass our now instead of fixing it. )

I have had all kinds of new-pet getting experiences, and I only ever get irked when someone doesn't do their best. Sometimes that looks like less than ideal, but ehh. Is what it is.
If she was churning out litters as fast as her female came into heat I'd be mad for you. But this.... well, things happen. You've got him, you love him, she's done breeding and is a crazy place in life.... move forward and I hope he never has a hiccup after this is over. Seriously Mr B. Not. Even. A. Hiccup. You can tell him I said so.

Is it sarcoptic mange or demodectic? If it's sarcoptic, the breeder needs to know because everyone else could have it.
If it's demodex, he'll need a lot of immune system support because it's more of an immune issue.

Anyway, she said it's more likely that it's demodex. Because he obviously has an immune issue anyways (hence the coccidia). Also, if it is sarcoptic, then it's contagious to humans (I would not like to get mange from my puppy! ). I'm giving him DE for his immune system. And feeding a healthy diet. Any other suggestions? ---------- Post added at 10:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:34 AM ---------- Quote:
