I had a little cactus bloom once, but it never bloomed again. Do a little research, some don't bloom for years. Maybe get a succulent. I just got a really pretty one as a party favor, I'll take a pic later.

I tried growing succulents from seeds and they grew too long due to not enough sun. I now have a partial shade succulent and that is doing well but I don't think flowers.
