Re: Facing the reality of being in pain for the rest of my life
Question: Do you have trouble laying flat on your back? Kind of getting an achy feeling in the small of your back? Bc it sounds like what I've been dealing with and when I do Pilates daily, the pain starts to go away. it was explained to me by a orthopedic massage lady that my core needed to be strengthened. She said I should do Pilates for a few months and then switch to yoga. But wait on the yoga until my core is strong and balanced.
I don't think you should resign yourself to being in pain. There's always hope. |

My chiro highly recommended doing pilates, so I guess I'll have to look into that!
MtnMama, yes, it hurts when I lay on my back and try to get up. |

Have you heard of or tried Bowen? http://bowendirectory.com/?p=3 Just thinking of some things that have helped me in the past with inflammation...massage, ice, fish oil, turmeric. Praying you find comfort!

Re: Facing the reality of being in pain for the rest of my life
you could try a pain specialist.... my psychiatrist was one in addition to dealing with psychiatric issues.

Quote:
I know the "I'm going to be in pain for the rest of my life" struggle. I went through that a lot when I was pregnant and my big hope was that it would *poof* go away after birth. It didn't. It felt better for a time, but surely didn't go away. I've had a lot of weepy days over it. BUT the pilates really helped. After doing it daily for 3 weeks, there was a *dramatic* improvement. I still couldn't lay on my back or stomach, but I could roll over without needing help if I woke up on my back in the middle of the night. Anyway, I stopped doing the pilates. but the pain hasn't gotten as bad as it once was. Although I'm having enough pain that I need to get my rear in gear and start back! |
