baking with baby cereal
OK, I'm trying to find ways of incorporating baby cereal into the kids diet. I mix it with mashed fruit for baby in the morning, or formula before bed, add it to the baby food dinners, but I still have a shelf full of the stuff!
I found a recipe for baby food cookies: 1/4 c. molasses, 1/4 c. butter, 1 egg, 1 t. vanilla, 3/4 c. wheat or oat flour, 1/2 t. baking soday, 2 c. infant cereal, and 3 T milk or formula Baked at 375 for 10-12 minutes. I also found a recipe for baby pancakes: 1 c. wheat or oat flour, 1 c. baby cereal, 1 c. formula, 1/2 c. mashed fruit, 1 T butter, 3 egg yolks, 1/2 c. juice Mixed together and made like regular pancakes Anyone have any other ideas?? Recipes that actually taste good enough for the older kids to eat?? |

Re: baking with baby cereal
I haven't tried it myself, but I've read that you can substitute baby cereal in any quick bread/muffin/cookie recipe for half of the flour. If a recipe calls for 2 cups of flour, substitute 1 cup of flour with 2 cups baby cereal (you have to double the amount). Does that mae sense?
