Default "hired" help?

How much does it cost to have someone come once a week or twice a month to help dust, vacuum, catch up on laundry, mop the floors...?

If it were a local teenager as a mother's helper, how much would it cost per time?

What about "hiring" a 10 or 11 year old to play with the baby while I get some housework done so that I don't have to worry about him and wouldn't have him hanging on me while I'm trying to cook and load the dishwasher, etc.?

While I'm on the topic, if I were to babysit a child in my home, what's a fair price to charge?
Tutoring in my home, per hour?

I have often wondered this myself.
I don't know.
But, I would think that you could find someone by talking to someone at your church.
I know in the summer, our youth always are available to do "odd jobs" like light housework and babysitting to raise money for their mission trips. We would just give them whatever we wanted to donate.

As far as tutoring, I guess it depends what you are tutoring. I have tutored math before. I only charged 25 dollars an hour but I know people that charge more.

I think it really varies by area - most places will give you a free estimate.
I know we pay $85 for our service - they clean our whole house 3 bedrooms 2.5 bathroom including the rec room in the basement. They don't do laundry though.

My girlfriend in TX only pays $45 and her house is about the same size.

I am a big fan of cleaning services - it boils down to when I finally get a moment to do something, I want to look at a magazine (etc.) - not scrub a toilet.

We had a mother's helper (actually father's helper in this case ) who came after school from 2pm-ish to 7pm-ish. She helped with the simple housekeeping stuff like wiping the sinks out and sweeping floors and also helped entertain the kids.

It cost us $10/week. Location, location, location.

I agree with location. Prices are going to vary based on where you are. As for housecleaning services, you just have to call a few and get estimates. As for a mother's helper or baby-sitter, ask around people locally to see what they pay or ask kids that you know who baby-sit what they charge. That's the best way to really get an accurate feel of local prices.

We live in a Seattle suburb and pay $75 twice a month for cleaning service. They don't do windows or laundry, but all other deep cleaning -- vacuuming, bathrooms, mopping, dusting, polishing, etc. I hate to clean bathrooms (showers and toilets -- yuck!) so that alone is worth the amount we pay for service!

We actually pay a little less for our house cleaner because he's not licensed and bonded. We've had several cleaners over the years, all not licensed and bonded, and this has never been a problem.
