the word pediatric
I need the opinion of lay people.
So, do you know what the word pediatric means? Or paediatric if you come from Australia, UK, etc. Please help me out here and honestly let me know. There is a particular reason I am asking. Thanks!

the word pediatric
Yes. It means to do with children. (I spell it ae !!)
Geriatric means old people. Unless you are 40 and pregnant. Then they seem to apply it to you?! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk ---------- Post added at 11:32 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:31 AM ---------- It's usually (paediatric) used in the medical context. Then I would assume / expect a dr In any area to specialise in children's medicine. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Re: the word pediatric
So, do you think it is fair to say this is common knowledge?

Re: the word pediatric
Yes, I would think so. I mean maybe not for young people? I don't know, I assume all adults know what it means.

Re: the word pediatric
Oh, common knowledge is like common sense, it should be much more common than it really is! But yes, I would think most people would know that.

Re: the word pediatric
Agreeing with everyone else- common knowledge and curious about the story! I think most adults would know what a pediatrician is or have heard it in medical contexts. Seems pretty obvious.

Re: the word pediatric
I am having a practice flyer made up and listing pediatric optometry in a concise list of services. The marketing person in head office suggested I just list children's eye exams instead as people might not know what pediatric means. But I am going to definitely use it anyway and thanks for confirming what I thought!

Re: the word pediatric
Interesting. I am planning to take my DD to get her eyes checked soon. I will ask friends for recommendations for "an eye doctor who works with kids" but would certainly recognize that in a poster with your wording. I think any caretaker or parent would

Re: the word pediatric
Huh. Between the two words, I could see 'optometry' not ringing a bell long before 'pediatric'. I've seen some people not know what that is, but never pediatric.

Re: the word pediatric
When the word pediatric is with the name optometrist or dentist/ what they offer, I am more likely to consider looking into their services. I want some one who works with a lot of kids "children's eye exams" wouldn't necessarily catch my eye.
