Default Do you buy cereal? Does it contain Monsanto's genetically modified ingredients?

If you don't buy any cereal, why? If you do buy cereal, what type do you buy?

Specifically asking because Kelloggs and Kashi are using Monsanto GM ingredients...are others? I'm trying to stay away from this.

We eat very little "pre-made" anything because everything has dairy in it, but cereal (with almond milk) is something I kinda need for my sanity

Nope, because there's really not any safe cereal for us, and I don't really like it.

Mini Wheats. I shouldn't because we think R is gluten intolerant, but it does have 6 grams of protein per serving, so if you are going to buy cereal, it might as well count, right?

Default Re: Do you buy cereal?

Yes. We go through 2-5 boxes a week, depending on what kind and who is on a growth spurt.

We buy Honey Nut Cheerios(the real ones. The family balks at anything else), Frosted Mini Wheats, Cracklin' Oat Bran.. I could go on. Pretty much anything not at kids eye level(meaning, no sugary "junk food" cereals). They have to have under 10 grams of sugar, which still isn't great, but it's better than say, Froot Loops or something.

Default Re: Do you buy cereal?

I only buy cereal when it is free after coupons AND I get something free with it. Every month or so there is a sale to buy 6 boxes of Kellogg's or general mills cereal and get a dozen eggs and a gallon of milk free. The cereal is ilusually on sale and with double coupons is almost always free or nearly free. I don't bother unless the cereal is 50 cents a box or less.

I usually get chex, kix or honey bunches of oats or cheerios. Otherwise I don't buy cereal. Nobody here is a big fan.

We get grape nuts and some bran flake thing that my husband likes. SOMETIMES Cherrios for a snack. I mostly eat oatmeal like cereal. YUM. A big bowl of it, with some pure maple syrup and milk- eaten cold is my FAVORITE.

I found Envirokids at Trader Joe's for a good price! Our cereal options have changed with DD2s new restrictions. I've been letting them eat up what was left (from my MOS like inspired shopping) and we'll see what I do from there. Where I am there are very few options and my kids LOVE cereal.

You mean GM O's aren't a healthy breakfast option?

There's only a few places back home that sell them for a reasonable price, so we always would cross check with Amazon.com to see if they had a better bulk price, and get items that way with enough purchased to get free shipping. No fuss, no muss and tons of cereal to enjoy.

I buy some. Mostly organic, but I do get Joe's O's from Trader Joe's. Maybe I should find an organic version.

Kashi (sold out to) is owned by GM, so I guess it makes sense.

I don't buy cereal. We don't do grains since going on the gaps diet. We do fried eggs for breakfast 90% of the time.
