Christmas
Anyone else excited about Christmas this year?? I don't know f it's because I'm not pregnant and exhausted but I'm so excited this year. What are everyone's plans? Do you decorate the house? Does anyone have any pictures of decorations to share?

Re: Christmas
That's so exciting. We have the Elf on the Shelf stuff here. My sister does it for her kids but I can never come up with good stuff to do with the elves so I didn't bother. We have 3 Christmas trees this year. A 7.5ft one, a 4ft one and a 3ft one.

Re: Christmas
I think the elf on a shelf is creepy and we don't do santa really. Some of the elf things are simple and funny. I tend to stick with those.
Oh 3 trees❤️❤️❤️ So pretty I bet!

Re: Christmas
I love Christmas! Yesterday we put up our Thanksgiving tree (just a little fake Christmas tree with homemade fall-related ornaments on it) because lots of people are putting up Christmas trees but I don't want to rush it, so this is how we get festive now without putting the tree up yet.
Dd1 and I are playing in a Christmas orchestra this year. We've been rehearsing for 3 weeks now and it is really fun to play Christmas music with people! I'm also singing in the church choir and trying to put together a string quartet for a church activity. I still need to do shopping, though- I've bought a few things but not much. What I really love is the easy impromptu stuff- making coffee filter snowflakes in our pj's, Christmas play dough (we do seasonal play dough around here- sometimes I even scent it), driving around to look at lights, the music. Oh, the music!! But I don't do Elf on the Shelf. This is my favorite, somewhat funny article about why not: http://www.nauvootimes.com/cgi-bin/n...2#.WDB0n-b57IU link broken because I haven't read that whole website. (I'm not mad at anyone who does it, nor do I think it's wrong. It's just not for our family).

Re: Christmas
Me! Me! I have half of my shopping done and we're getting a new (fake) tree Black Friday! I'm looking forward to putting it up with my family and putting on Christmas music and bringing out the nativity scene and advent calendar
Last year,we bought lots of icicle lights for our roof and unexpectedly got a dog and the lights got forgotten. So this year,we are borrowing a neighbor's ladder and putting them up! |

Re: Christmas
I pretty much have all my shopping done.
haven't decided if we will do real or artificial tree but we will wait a bit longer either way. I'll pretty much let Cecilia do outdoor lights. We do "santa" but just as a silly game. Cecilia is obviously beyond Margaret still hold some belief though we've told her its just game. She doesn't always believe it though. I'm not going to hammer in the "truth".

Re: Christmas
I'm excited this year. We're doing something totally different. We're not buying any presents and instead going to an indoor water park . We'll decorate and all but Santa is taking a vacation this year.

Re: Christmas
I am beginning to get excited. Our botanical garden has a light show and tomorrow is a walking night It's finally cold enough to feel wintery on the walk and I'm excited.

Re: Christmas
Christmas is on a Sunday this year! I love going to a special service before we open gifts...I wish we could do that every year.

Re: Christmas
We typically go the evening Childrens Mass Christmas eve I'm looking foward to when we can do Midnight Mass again but Margaret is still a little too young for that.

Re: Christmas
I don't think I'd say excited although Christmas is my favorite holiday. I'm
So swamped with other responsibilities that it is sneaking up on me. I don't want to decorate at all. I do have most of the gifts purchased though. |

Re: Christmas
We got our tree up yesterday and decorated. Did a bit of a natural minimalist to hint this year around the house. I needed a little change after basically the same decor for a decade.
We are going to a local historic site to do a photo shoot today that will wrap up with carols and a lights display at the same location. I am really looking forward to it. This is the first year in over a decade that my husband has been home and fully engaged for the holiday. He would get so burnt out and cynical from his other job that it really dampens his holiday spirit. |

Re: Christmas
We are having our usual services on the Sunday, the kids will get to open their stockings then will get the rest of their presents after church. My uncle has a carol service at our church, I think it's the Friday before Christmas where everyone sings carols etc then there's refreshments. I cleared the lounge ready for the tree going up tomorrow . And Naomi has started crawling this week so this will Be interesting

I think we'll open stockings first, too. And I'll get up early enough to have our traditional breakfast. Now what for lunch after church? Maybe heavy snacks...
