Non meat choices for baby
Chickadee is almost 10 months. How'd that happen?
I'm trying to find some good easy non meat recipes for her. She's good with all flavours. A few nights ago we ate Indian food and she ate the guts of a samosa. We are dairy and egg free (me and her) for her suspected allergies. Ideas? Please

Re: Non meat choices for baby
My babies loved beans and rice and lentils and rice. Avocados were a big hit with one of my babies. I would just cut one open and spoon out bites. By 10 months they were eating whatever we were eating- soup, rice and vegetables, noodles with sauce, even pizza cut in tiny pieces. Whatever it was I would just cut it really small.

Re: Non meat choices for baby
I'm dairy and egg free because she's showing signs of intolerance.
I do chicken stock.

Re: Non meat choices for baby
This is the vegetarian forum.
---------- Post added at 04:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:43 PM ---------- My kids at that age like peas, beans, lentils, grains and sweet potatoes. I just premake bowls or give them bites of my food. So, If I make some quinoa. black beans and sweet potatoes then I make up some small containers for a couple of meals. I use frozen peas and just thaw a bit first. I never heat their food.

Re: Non meat choices for baby
oh! sorry! i didnt' realize what forum this was in --also i think my above question came out wrong too-- i was so i more wanted to know what suggestions to offer, which wouldn't have been an issue anyway if i had noticed what forum this was in
anyway i just do a lot of bananas and avocados with coconut oil and water as needed for when i need something he can eat when he can't eat what we are eating. also are you wanting to make a big batch of something and then freeze it or just something on a small scale for just one or two meals for her?

Re: Non meat choices for baby
Small scale and quick. I'll tell you what I do, I thi k she's getting sick of it.
Various veggies, if they've been frozen I reheat on the stove with a bit of stock. Lentils, barley, brown rice, spelt as a stew. I add tomato. Her favourite. Many legumes make her cry when she poops. Quinoa and couscous is added to stews. Couscous is the easiest. I guess I'm looking for something quick for when I'm behind in freezer stuff. I can't just scramble an egg which was my go to for the other kids

Re: Non meat choices for baby
Beans and rice with avocado has been a huge favorite for dd3starting at that age.
Refried beans are also a good option mixed with rice and salsa (though my dd3 loves spicy food...or did as an infant). It is messier than rice, but how does she tolerate quinoa? Super yummy sweet with maple syrup and banana or mixed with veggies in a stir fry. It isn't super easy on the gut though, can have similar digestive process to gluten and not agree with a person with celiac or gluten intolerance...but it is a complete protein. ---------- Post added at 10:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:21 PM ---------- For a quick go to option I would go with refried beans and avocado. Hummus was also a favorite and I would give her a medium sized carrot to suck it off of ...messy but it kept her busy and was a good sensory activity too. There are also coconut based yogurts (or you could make your own).

Re: Non meat choices for baby
You can puree any bean. It might make it easier to digest.
