Focus on the Family Videos?
Has anyone heard of a series called, "What's OK, what's not, and what really works?" Our church is showing those videos in a few weeks and I'm wondering what to expect. I'm not usually a big fan of Focus on the Family. Are there ever any materials from them that aren't questionable?

Sorry, I've never heard of them.

Re: Focus on the Family Videos?
Hmmm. I'm wondering if maybe that's the title the church gave to the series of parenting classes rather than the series of videos. Honestly, it sounds exactly like how our Children's Ministry Director talks. I'll have to ask around at church.

Re: Focus on the Family Videos?
I just watched about half of the Focus on Your Child- What works what doesn't With Discipline. (Not the exact title) I wanted to write up a whole little report but I am newly pregnant and so sick I can hardly stand it so I haven't had the energy. I will say it was inconsistent- at one point Dobson says not to spank until 3 and another to start at 18 months. There is a whole section on spanking, it doesn't say the Bible says to do it which I appreciate but it does advocate it as a loving discipline. He also talks about squeezing some shoulder muscle to get compliance. He does have some good points about following through, meaning what you say, etc. but frankly it was all really basic especially for anyone who has read anything on parenting.
