As seen on fb (I know this is vague...)
About 2 weeks ago, something showed up in my newsfeed. It was a darling (rustic & small) log cabin in the woods & the post read something like ,"if you were provided with enough food & firewood for a month, would you live here if you were offered $xx,xxxx."
I was thinking, "you wouldn't even have to PAY me!!!" Did anyone else see this? If so, were you thinking the same thing? |

Re: As seen on fb (I know this is vague...)
I saw that and thought the same thing. I was confused as to what the downside was, such that a large sum of money was required to make it worthwhile.

Re: As seen on fb (I know this is vague...)
I was thinking about my kids and that I would go absolutely nuts with them in a small cabin for a month.
Just by myself I would be fine.

Re: As seen on fb (I know this is vague...)
I saw that too. My only confusion was that it said you had to stay in the cabin. I wasn't sure if it actually meant inside the cabin or on the property. I might go stir crazy inside the cabin. But if I can play outside nearby, definitely yes! (proper snow gear included, obviously)

Re: As seen on fb (I know this is vague...)
I just read it as someone's attempt to make a picture go viral because it said "share if you would live here for X$" and so basically anyone who regularly shares that sort of thing would live there (everyone would) and so they'd share it.

Re: As seen on fb (I know this is vague...)
No internet/no cable would probably be a nice break for a while for our family. But no phone is a deal breaker for me with children. That would make me feel unsafe, and I need to keep in touch with my family.

Re: As seen on fb (I know this is vague...)
I could do it if my DH was there too - I couldn't single parent for 30 days straight with no contact with the outside world.

Re: As seen on fb (I know this is vague...)
Yes I think the only downside is no technological access to the outside world for safety reasons. Let me take a phone for emergencies only and we'd be there in a heartbeat - no payment required

Re: As seen on fb (I know this is vague...)
I saw it in various forms and am left thinking two things.
1- That cabin is larger than our cabin 2- I do that by choice for multiple long weekends/ weeks a year and call it vacation. For real, I get sad when we get far enough from or cabin that our phones start ringing and lighting up with notifications again. Last edited by WanderingJuniper; 02-06-2016 at 02:12 PM. |

Re: As seen on fb (I know this is vague...)
I saw it. yes I could unplug as long as I had a phone, & my boys. We would need games & books & toys for the little man but otherwise, I would have no problem. The money would be a bonus.
