Re: Bean Dip
this is very timely for me...the ILs are visiting tomorrow and they are always phoning/sending me letters with their well-meaning detachment advice. When i was 4 months pg they insisted on showing us (with very precise instructions) how to prepare formula...as if we would remember 5 months later!!!
I guess they are like that so that i learn to be more gracious. i'll really have to remember the bean dip tomorrow |

I have long used the line "It works so well for us! Thank you!" . Next time I'll offer it with a side of bean dip. |

Re: Bean Dip
I'm gonna have to quote you when my mom visits about me parenting and her just enjoying, that's such a gentle yet firm way to leave no wiggle room around it.
Thanks so much Crystal for your insight. Especially about learning to know when to share info. and letting people learn the hard way sometimes like we all have to. Wise woman you |

Re: Bean Dip
Thank you for this post! My biological mother was quite punitive in her discipline of me, so being here has been a LOT of help while I am becoming ever more graceful in the discipline of my kiddos. She lives eight hours away and is fussing at me that my youngest is still on the "t*****" (not sure if that word is allowed on the board, but I don't like it). Not sure how to "offer bean dip" when we're on the phone, LOL!

Re: Bean Dip
Thank you for this advice. I come from a family that is extremely opinionated and judgmental. I already have them telling me how to live my life and I do not even have any children yet. It is something both me and my fiance are extremely nervous about when it comes time for us to have children. This advice is extremely helpful.
