Re: Do any of you like & prefer FLATS??
I use them pad folded in Flip covers and it's my preferred system for older babies and toddlers. (most of my "flats" are receiving blankets)

This thread is making me want to dig my nappy stash out of the loft and sell off some of the ones I didn't like so much

Re: Do any of you like & prefer FLATS??
Every time this thread pops up on my "New Posts" feed, I think we're talking about shoes, and I'm all like, "DUH! Who DOESN'T like flats?"
Carry on...

Re: Do any of you like & prefer FLATS??
I can't say I LOVE them, but they are definitely what works the best for us. Very tough washing conditions combined with sensitive skinned babies means I need the cleanest rinsing thing I can get. I've certainly had my times of getting completely sick of folding them (quartering out of the dryer/off the line, not folding for putting on baby) like when I've had 4 kids in full time diapers...but I do always come back to them.
For absorbancy, you can always double up or add preemie PFs or whatever doubler with ANY type of diaper, but with flats I find that you'll be able to hold more per thickness than PFs or fitteds because there is no quiltiness--air space--between the layers. It ends up being more dense. So less bulk, but stiffer. I got some yardage of OBV and just cut it into squares (no hemming or anything, it doesn't fray) and use those as flats. Those are soft and stretchy! But I do still like my Little Lions cotton flats too... Pad folded in Flips are my usual once baby eats solids; before that I origami or kite or just "prefold fold" but I always JELLYROLL whatever fold it is for EBF poo. For the past year we've been using flats with woolies too |

Oh I almost forgot I have flats! I really need to upgrade my 3 month old out of GMD newborn prefolds into the next size....I'll have to bust out my flats too!

Re: Do any of you like & prefer FLATS??
I will need to brush up on my folding skills, but I definitely liked them for in the diaper bag at the very least. Much more compact.

Re: Do any of you like & prefer FLATS??
My daughter has crazy sensitive skin. We had to pack away all of our fancy fitteds and switch to flats (the serging bothers her!) I use a combination of receiving blankets and flour sack towels. I use newborn prefold a and other flats as doublers. We also have hemp inserts for nighttime. I love the ease, versatility, and affordability of upcycled flats!!
